Core Advantages of EPDM

- EPDM features excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, high and low temperature resistance, water resistance, steam resistance and superior electrical insulation. Its main drawback is poor resistance to oil and fuel. It is the preferred sheath material for outdoor, high-voltage and long-term anti-aging scenarios in new energy and power industries.

IV. Usage Taboos & Notes

1. Keep away from gasoline, engine oil and lubricants. EPDM swells and softens rapidly when exposed to mineral oil and loses efficacy. Choose CSP, neoprene or fluororubber for oily working conditions.

2. Flame retardant modification is necessary. Pure EPDM is flammable, so flame retardant or low-smoke halogen-free EPDM must be adopted for new energy and cable usage.

3. Avoid long-term contact with strong polar solvents such as esters, ketones and chlorinated hydrocarbons, which will cause swelling and cracking.

4. Prefer carbon black reinforced black EPDM for outdoor use with strongest UV and aging resistance; colored EPDM is prone to fading and aging outdoors.

5. Follow the minimum bending radius during installation. Excessive bending will damage inner wires and thin the sheath wall.

- Prioritize EPDM for outdoor occasions requiring anti-aging, waterproof and wide temperature resistance performance

- Do not use EPDM in environments with oil, fuel and organic solvents

- EPDM is a mature mainstream solution for new energy high-voltage wiring, photovoltaic, wind power and charging pile cables
